If you’re planning a ski trip to Rusutsu Resort in Hokkaido and unsure where to stay, this guide by a Hokkaido local will help you choose the best accommodation based on your budget and travel style.

What Are the Best Rusutsu Resort Accommodation Options?

There are very few accommodation options around Rusutsu Resort, so your main choices are the Rusutsu Resort Hotel & Convention and the Westin Rusutsu Resort, both operated by the resort.

  • 🏨 These hotels are located about a 10-minute walk from the ski slopes.

  • 💰 During peak season, room rates range from ¥40,000 to ¥80,000 per night.

  • 👥 Costs can be shared among groups, but solo travelers may find them pricey.

If you're on a tighter budget, two great local options near Rusutsu Resort are:

  • Drive Inn Ikeda

  • Pension Yamada

These lodges offer simple rooms and rates from ¥4,000 to ¥8,000 per night.

  • 🧳 These accommodations are beloved by local Japanese skiers for years.

  • 🚶 Both are located next to each other, about a 10-minute walk to the ski slopes.

  • 😊 Owners are friendly and welcoming, though English may not be widely spoken, so we recommend using a translation app.

  • ✨ Note: These places are not luxurious, so if you're looking for comfort and style, the main resort hotels are a better fit.

They’re perfect for travelers who want to save money and enjoy a more local and authentic Japanese atmosphere.

Want to Save Even More? Stay Near Sapporo Station and Use the Free Shuttle Bus!

During the winter season, Rusutsu Resort offers a free shuttle bus from Sapporo Station to Rusutsu Resort.

  • 🕗 Departure: Around 8:00 AM from Sapporo Station

  • 🕙 Arrival: Around 10:00 AM at Rusutsu

  • 🕔 Return: Leaves Rusutsu at 5:00 PM

  • 📝 Reservations are required by the day before.

You can stay at a budget hotel near Sapporo Station, enjoy the nightlife and dining options in Sapporo, and still go skiing at Rusutsu during the day.

Caution: The main downside is that your ski schedule depends on the bus timetable. You’ll need to make sure you don’t miss the return bus.

Choose the Right Rusutsu Resort Accommodation Based on Your Needs

  • For comfort and convenience, stay at the official Rusutsu Resort hotels.

  • For budget travel near the slopes, consider Drive Inn Ikeda or Pension Yamada.
